Tip 1: Wash your clothes in cold water. Hot water requires much more energy per load, with about 75-90% of the total energy used going towards heating the water.

Tip 2: Hang Dry. Machine Dry only for especially pungent odors. (The heat from the dryer kills bacteria which eliminates strong odors.) Hang Drying not only saves money but can extend the color & life of your favorite items and may eliminate shinkrage!

Tip 3: Hand Wash. Hand washing is ideal for delicate fabrics and it involves you in the upkeep of your garments. Who's going to take better care of your clothes than you?

Tip 4: Use Non-Toxic Detergent. Look for brands without artificial fragrances or dyes.
